Our Story

A small team that got curious about how technology gets paid for

Miller Leasing Miete Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung began as a modest research effort out of Bad Homburg, built around a simple observation: the people making leasing and financing decisions rarely had anywhere plain-spoken to turn. We set out to change that, one explanation at a time.

Milestones

How our work has evolved over the years

We keep a running record of the moments that shaped our editorial direction, because the questions our readers ask have changed just as much as the technology itself.

  1. 2004

    The first research notes

Our founding team began circulating short internal memos comparing operating leases and finance leases for office computing equipment. What started as a way to answer colleagues' questions slowly became the seed of a much larger project.

  2. 2008

A dedicated focus on IT hardware

As laptop refresh cycles shortened and server rooms grew more complex, we narrowed our attention to the specifics of IT leasing — depreciation schedules, warranty overlap, and the timing questions that come with fast-moving hardware.

  3. 2013

Widening the lens to technology finance

Cloud infrastructure and enterprise software licensing introduced entirely new financing questions. We broadened our coverage to include the instruments organizations were using to fund digital transformation projects, not just physical equipment.

  4. 2017

    Formalizing our research process

We introduced a structured review cycle for every article we publish, drawing on conversations with finance teams, procurement specialists, and equipment vendors to keep our explanations grounded in how these arrangements actually play out.

  5. 2020

    Asset financing beyond IT

Readers began asking about equipment well outside our original scope — vehicles, machinery, and specialized tools. We expanded our material to cover asset financing more broadly, while keeping technology at the center of what we do.

  6. Today

    A steady, deliberate pace

We continue to work from Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe with a small, focused team, publishing at a pace that lets us verify our explanations rather than chase every headline. We think that patience shows in the quality of what we write.

How we work

Research first, narrative second

Every piece we publish starts with a genuine question — often one that a reader has sent us directly. We spend time understanding the mechanics before we try to explain them simply, because we have found that clarity only comes after the difficult parts are fully understood.

Our writing tends to favor longer, descriptive explanations over quick summaries. We would rather walk through the reasoning behind a leasing structure than hand over a bullet list that leaves out the nuance.

Where we are based

Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe, Germany

Our office sits on Louisenstraße, within easy reach of Frankfurt's wider business community. Working from a smaller city has, if anything, given us the quiet we need to write carefully.
